What company do you represent
?

Many first time callers think that we represent one specific insurance company and will therefore try to sell you only that company. However, this isn't the case. At Friedlander & Associates we are Independent Agents. This means we have the ability to choose from many different companies. Not only do we have the ability to recommend the company and product that best fits your specific needs, but this also means we can choose which companies we will not sell. Friedlander & Associates will not affiliate with insurance companies who do not have an acceptable rating and demonstrated claims paying ability. We stand for integrity and honesty in our business dealings with our clients and demand the same from the companies we choose to represent. We also frown on being required to meet a quota . We recommend products based on our clients needs, not to meet a "production goal".

What kinds of health insurance do you sell?

We sell health insurance for individuals and groups. Individuals could be one person, a family or a policy for a child (or children) only. Group insurance is generally insurance for companies, however a group could also be a sole proprietor and a single employee. There are many different definitions; check with us regarding your situation if you are in doubt. A small group consists of 2-49 persons, large group is 50 plus employees.

Is it difficult to be approved for an individual plan?

In most cases, no. In California, these types of insurance plans are individually underwritten - the insurance company looks at the health history of each person applying.  Then, depending on the medical history of the person (or persons) applying, the insurance company makes a decision on whether or not to approve the application. Of course, every situation is different and if you have some question as to whether or not you would be approved based on something in your health history it is best to discuss it with us first. That is what a good agent is all about; knowing the underwriting guidelines of each company and how to help you succeed in obtaining a personal health insurance policy
